Praise for Wonderful Staff and Programs at Desert Valley Hospice Society

Palliative hospice care - words we really hate to say, let alone think about. But I, along with so many others, are in the midst of just that.
The realization that the life we have lived is coming to a close is a terrible feeling, full of such pain and stress, causing all kinds of reactions.
Yet, in Osoyoos, at the Desert Valley Hospice Society, we have the opportunity to release and express what we are feeling, if we choose, or just sit back and listen and watch to learn.
We have such wonderful staff who are willing to listen or talk to, help in relaxation and acceptance of our various situations. If they feel that others are needed to help, they are called in to assist in the different areas necessary and help all of us with the stress we're feeling.
At the centre, there are various activities to take part in that can be done alone or with each other and there are movies and videos to watch.
Everyone is relaxed and comfortable because of the wonderful staff involved. The wonderful lunch that is prepared and served is healthy and nutritious.
We are truly blessed to have these services within such a close proximity to our homes and are not forced to travel to Penticton or elsewhere, which would only add to the stress. I have thoroughly enjoyed participating in the Supportive Day Program offered through the Desert Valley Hospice Society. In Osoyoos, we have a special gift that includes the offering of consideration, respect and love at the hospice. It's a place where friendships are made and activities are shared with people who truly care and are helping us all in the steps that are needed.
