STEPPING OUT OF GRIEF

STEPPING OUT OF GRIEF PROGRAM
Desert Valley Hospice is implementing a new program to help those who are grieving step past their grief, even for a brief moment, and join a group of others in a similar situation in a social setting. This group will get together once a month to share stories, socialize, have a chance to meet others and join in activities. These activities could include a theatre production, music event, or physical activity, depending on the group’s mobility. The event may also include a meal and transportation.
The criteria for this program is that participants must be grieving the loss of a close loved one (spouse, child, parent) OR have a close loved one (spouse, child, parent) in Palliative Care. AND the participant must not already be actively involved in other groups. This is a program to help participants navigate their way back into the social aspects of life and help them to meet others - taking the first step out of the lonely grief process.
This program is available to residents of Oliver, Osoyoos, Okanagan Falls, Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen Areas A, C and D and Osoyoos Indian Band.
If you are interested in this program or know of someone who is interested, please contact our Program and Volunteer Coordinator at 250-495-1590 (ext 103) Monday-Thursday, 10AM – 3PM. Space is limited so please contact us as soon as possible to reserve your spot.
This program is made possible by funding received from HelpAge Canada. We appreciate their financial support so we can provide these programs to the communities we serve.
