Support your community and join our Hospice Volunteer Team! New volunteers are always welcome. Please contact Program Coordinator Kathy Hankinson 250-495-1590 ext 103 or email programs @desertvalleyhospice.org. Interested individuals undergo suitability screening and a criminal record check in order to train as a Hospice Volunteer. Our Hospice Volunteers are required to complete a 30 hour training course followed by a 6 hour practicum at the South Okanagan General Hospital. 2022 Volunteer Training Dates to be announced. Please speak to our Program Coordinator about your interest and call for more information 250-495-1590 ext. 103. Our volunteers do not replace nursing care, home care, or family support; rather they compliment the health care and family team to enhance the quality of life for the patient, their families, and their caregivers. Special Event Volunteers Our Events and Communications Team plays a major role in fundraising to support the delivery of our services. You can help develop, coordinate and implement our annual fundraising events such as Hike for Hospice, Hootenanny for Hospice and Celebration of Caring Hands. If you are interested in helping at a special event, please call 250-495-1590 ext. 102 or 103 or email administrator@desertvalleyhospice.org. Supportive Care Centre Volunteers We are a small, hard-working team and sometimes we could use a hand with office administration and gardening at our Supportive Care Centre in Osoyoos. If you have a couple of hours a month to share with DVHS, please give us a call at 250-495-1590 or email programs@desertvalleyhospice.org. We would love to hear from you. Thank you in advance. |
