Who We Are and What We Do
Who We Are
The Desert Valley Hospice Society is charitable organization committed to supporting excellence in the delivery of hospice palliative care and end of life services for residents of the communities of Oliver, Osoyoos and Okanagan Falls. The goal of end-of-life care is the same regardless of setting; to ensure the best possible quality of life for dying people and their families.
What We Do
Public awareness and education
Through media, events and presentations, we work to educate community members about hospice and end-of-life care.
Assistance and support
Our trained hospice volunteers are available to assist and support individuals and their families who require end of life care in Oliver, Osoyoos and Okanagan Falls.
Our various events supported by the generous donations from our communities are used to help further our vision.
Supporting people so that they can have a 'good finish' needs to be a key priority of government and health care services. To that end, we lobby and educate key decision makers in hopes of constantly improving support and services for those nearing end-of-life.
Honouring the Memories of Loved Ones
Some of our special events, including our Celebration of Caring Hands and Hike for Hospice, offer opportunities to honour the memories of loved ones lost to illness.
Caring for Our Communities into the Future
The care and support of individuals with life-limiting illnesses is our top priority. We are also committed to growing our hospice programs and enhancing our abilities to best meet the growing need for hospice, palliative, end-of-life care and services in our communities. Our vision is to work with our Health Authority to provide designated hospice beds for the Oliver, Osoyoos and Okanagan Falls areas.
