hospice volunteer training
Desert Valley Hospice Society's hospice volunteers provide an invaluable service to the people in the communities of Oliver, Osoyoos and Okanagan Falls. The required 30-hour training course is followed by a 6-hour practicum. When trained hospice volunteers provide social, practical and emotional support to those living with a serious or life-limiting illness. Our volunteers do not replace nursing care, home care or family support; rather they complement the health care and family team to enhance the quality of life both for the patient, their families, and the caregivers. |
